Chicago Cubs 1992

A striking visual collage of one of baseball’s oldest and most treasured franchises. This beautiful lithograph serves as both a tribute to and a history of the Chicago Cubs storied past. Beginning at the club's inception in 1876, this history tree includes all significant contributors to the team’s success (or lack thereof...sigh). Each player and achievement in the tree, from Frank Chance and the 1908 World Series winners to Ryne Sandberg and the rest of the ’84 East champs, is arranged in chronological order and sized by significance, with a plethora of fonts and icons used to add distinction to the piece. The Chicago Cubs History Tree is a terrific piece of art that will delight Cubs fans everywhere.

The roots of the Cubs tree highlight the team’s famous ballpark, Wrigley Field, and one of its signature features, the hand-operated scoreboard that is still in use today. In the background, moving from left to right, is Murphy’s Pub, a sketch of the Wrigleyville neighborhood rooftops, the-long-standing TORCO sign that towered over the right-field bleachers, and the famous Cubby Bear bar at the corner of Clark and Addison. Fronting the roots sit a number of different signs, one for Weeghman Park, the original name of Wrigley Field, and others representing the names of stadiums the team played in prior to Wrigley.
